CoSpaces Edu is an educational technology widely used in schools around the world and letting anyone easily create their own virtual content. Working simply as a website inside your browser or as mobile and tablet app, CoSpaces Edu enables students to build, code, and explore their own creations in VR or AR, while learning essential digital skills.
How easy is CoSpaces Edu to use?
Creating in CoSpaces Edu is a simple drag and drop process using a variety of creation features including a 3D objects, building blocks, multimedia uploads, block-based coding, and much more. CoSpaces Edu's visual coding language CoBlocks is ideal for young coders and a great introduction to computational thinking.
What is needed to sign up?
You can sign up with your email address and through Google or Office 365. Students just need their teacher's class code to join CoSpaces Edu.
Can I showcase CoSpaces Edu in presentations?
If you're a CoSpaces Edu account holder, we grant our permission for presentations to other educators or groups. You can also learn about our Ambassador Program if you're interested in becoming a CoSpaces Edu Ambassador.

How can I buy CoSpaces Edu Pro?

Can I get CoSpaces Edu Pro now and go back to Basic later?
Sure! When your Pro plan ends after one year, you'll be able to either renew your Pro plan or downgrade to CoSpaces Edu Basic. Please note that after going back to Basic, you'll automatically lose all features that are exclusive to Pro and which you may have been using in your CoSpaces.
Can I test CoSpaces Edu Pro for free?
Sure! CoSpaces Edu Pro trials let you try out all the features of CoSpaces Edu and add-ons for free during 30 days with 100 seats (1 teacher and 99 students).
How can I get a CoSpaces Edu Pro trial?
CoSpaces Edu Pro trials are given out by our Ambassadors. Connect with a CoSpaces Edu Ambassador on Twitter to receive their trial code. Check out our Ambassador page to view the CoSpaces Edu Ambassadors.
How do I activate a CoSpaces Edu Pro trial?
In CoSpaces Edu Basic, click the "Upgrade to Pro" button at the bottom-left corner, select "Activate trial" and simply enter your trial code.
I'm not in charge of payment. What should I do?
You can start by requesting a quote for your desired Pro plan from us. With this quote in your hand, you can then proceed to the ones in charge of financial matters at your school/institution.
How does the purchase order work?
Simply request a quote from us for the Pro plan you need. With this quote, you can make the necessary steps to get the PO (or any other order form that you use at your school/company/institution). On reception of a PO, we'll send you an invoice and you'll have up to 30 days to make the payment.

What happens when my Pro license plan expires?
When your license plan expires after one year, you’ll be able to choose between renewing it for an additional year, downgrading to CoSpaces Edu Basic, or using a different license plan.
How do I activate my Pro license plan?
From your CoSpaces Edu account, click "Upgrade to Pro" and enter your key to unlock CoSpaces Edu Pro.
How can I renew my license plan?
Login to your CoSpaces Edu account and click "Manage license plan" to renew your license plan or directly contact us. You can also upgrade your Pro plan when you renew it.
What are seats and how does the license plan system work?
License plans are valid for a year from the time of purchase and contain a certain number of seats depending on your license plan. A seat can be used either by a student or by a teacher and can be transferred to a new person at anytime. This means that a user can be added, removed or replaced from a seat. What matters is only the total number of seats being used in your account. The number of occupied seats you can always check at the bottom left corner of your screen.
Can several users share a seat?
A seat can be used on 2 desktops and 2 devices. Each user, student or teacher, must use their own seat and login details. However, you can easily re-assign seats to new users.
How can I re-assign seats?
You can re-assign seats by removing and replacing students from the seats available in your CoSpaces Edu license plan. Freeing up a seat will let you use it for another student who you can invite with your class invite code. These options are available from the “Manage users” dashboard.
How can I get more seats in my license plan?
You can upgrade to a higher Pro plan with more seats anytime. Go to "Manage license plan" in your CoSpaces Edu Pro account and upgrade to any higher Pro plan you like. You can also contact us to get a quote.
Can multiple teachers share a license plan?
Yes, a Pro license plan can be shared between multiple teachers. When you buy a Pro plan, you'll automatically get a key, which you can share with other teachers to let them unlock CoSpaces Edu Pro.
Can I test the MERGE Cube add-on for free?
Yes! In CoSpaces Edu in the "Manage license plan" section, you'll be given the possibility to activate a one-time 14 days trial of the MERGE Cube add-on.
What are the class management features of CoSpaces Edu?
The platform was designed for teachers to have full access and control over the workflow. From within the web app, teachers can create and share assignments with the class, assign individual tasks to students or create collaborative assignments, and monitor the students’ work process remotely.
Does CoSpaces Edu include lesson plans detailing how to use VR and AR in the classroom?
Our website resources include many lesson plans created by ourselves and our Ambassadors. They can all be downloaded as documents, adapted to your liking and then implemented into your classroom at a moment's notice.
Can I create templates to share with my class?
Yes, you can create a template CoSpace to use as an assignment for your class. Your students will receive the ability to use your template as a basis for their assignment and edit it.
How do I share my license plan with other teachers?
Simply give other teachers the key associated with your license plan. They first have to create an account with their login details (name, email, password etc) and log in to CoSpaces Edu. Once logged in, other teachers can enter your key to unlock Pro, using one of the seats in your license plan.
How do I add students to my license plan?
Students can join your class and your license plan using your class code. When signing up for CoSpaces Edu, students will be required to enter a class code, automatically adding them to your class and license plan, using one of the seats in your license plan.
What happens to my students' CoSpaces when I remove them from my license plan?
CoSpaces that were created as assignments in your class will be removed completely, while CoSpaces created by your students individually will still be accessible for them to view.
What information do I and my students need to enter to use CoSpaces Edu?
Where can students create their own CoSpaces?
All students get access to a Free Play section in CoSpaces Edu where they can work on their own projects. This lets students create CoSpaces on their own, without it being part of an assignment.
How can I observe my students' work?
Teachers are able to observe their students’ work in real-time online from their class in the “Students” section. Teachers automatically get access to their students' assignments as well as their own CoSpaces created in Free Play.
Can students collaborate within the same CoSpace?
Yes! You can create a CoSpace as an assignment and share it with a group of students. This will let the students in the group work together within the CoSpace that was assigned to them.
What kind of hardware do I need to use CoSpaces?
CoSpaces Edu has been made to be as accessible as possible. All you need to create and enjoy the experience is a desktop, laptop, Chromebook or mobile device, with a working and up-to-date web browser.
Will I be able to access the CoSpaces Edu domains from my school?
Some schools have firewalls that block certain domains and might prevent you from accessing CoSpaces Edu. In order to resolve this, it is necessary to allow all of the domains needed to access CoSpaces Edu's online platform and apps. Please contact your IT department and ask them to whitelist the following domains and ports: cospaces.io:443, edu.cospaces.io:443, and cdn.delightex.com:443.

How can I view my creations on the MERGE Cube?
To project onto the MERGE Cube, open a MERGE Cube CoSpace in the CoSpaces Edu mobile app from a smartphone or tablet, click "Play" and hold the MERGE Cube in front of your device's camera.
What devices can be used with the MERGE Cube?
Smartphones and tablets with iOS 9+ and Android 4.4+ can be used to view content on the MERGE Cube, using the CoSpaces Edu mobile app. Click here for more details.

How can I get the MERGE Cube add-on?
If you already have a CoSpaces Edu Pro license plan, you can purchase the MERGE Cube add-on directly from your CoSpaces Edu account. If you're buying a new Pro plan, you'll be able to include the add-on in your order.
What headsets would you recommend using with CoSpaces Edu?
To explore CoSpaces in VR using the CoSpaces Edu mobile app, all you need is a basic mobile VR headset as basic as a cardboard viewer, which can be purchased some at a very reasonable price or can even be built by your students. CoSpaces Edu also works on the Samsung Gear VR, Daydream, Oculus Go and ClassVR headsets.
Is it possible to upload external files to use within CoSpaces Edu?
Yes! In the "Upload" section, you can import various external files to your CoSpaces. You can upload your own images including 360° images and GIFs, 3D models, video and sound files. You can also use the integrated web search feature to find the right content for your virtual world.
Can I import my own 3D models into CoSpaces Edu?
Yes! You can upload your own 3D models to use in CoSpaces Edu or use the integrated Google Poly search feature to find Poly 3D objects to use in your creations. Supported 3D model formats include STL, OBJ and FBX uploads, although not all features might work. Learn more here.
What features are supported for FBX uploads?
CoSpaces Edu supports FBX uploads within certain limitations: only simple textures are supported (no normal, specular, alpha with transparency), animations from .fbx files aren't supported yet, and the model and its texture should not exceed a total file size of 50MB. Learn more here.
What should I do if my 3D model doesn't upload correctly?
We're working on improving our support of 3D models in various formats. Please tell us about your issue here. This will help us in our troubleshooting to improve the 3D models upload feature.
Is CoSpaces Edu compatible with 360° images?
Yes! You can even build your creations upon existing 360° images that you upload to CoSpaces Edu.
Where can I get 360° images to use in my creations?
There are plenty of free 360° available with the Creative Commons license, which you can find here. Make sure to create only with free-of-use content.
What is the difference between CoBlocks and Blockly?
CoBlocks is CoSpaces Edu's own visual block-based programming language and allows coding on desktop or on a tablet. Blockly is web-only and was removed from CoSpaces Edu on December 30, 2018.
Does CoSpaces Edu work on the Oculus Go?
Yes! The CoSpaces Edu app available in the Oculus store lets you experience your creations in VR with the Oculus Go.
Does CoSpaces Edu work on the Oculus Rift?

What standalone VR headsets can I use with CoSpaces Edu?
You can use CoSpaces Edu on the Oculus Go with the GearVR app or with ClassVR headsets that have a hardware integration of CoSpaces Edu.
Can I add videos to my CoSpaces?
Yes! You can upload video files in .mp4 format of up to 50MB to use in your CoSpaces. You'll find this feature in the "Upload" section.
Can I add sound to my CoSpaces?
Yes! You can upload external sound files in .mp3 and .wav to your CoSpaces or you can make your own sound recordings directly within CoSpaces Edu.
